Service Specialist I - Cable Spooling

Job Duties and Qualifications

Job Duties:

  • Under general supervision, responsible for professionally installing cable and cap line in field site hole and spool the cable and cap line as it is pulled from the hole.
  • Load, perform pre-trip inspection, transport cable spool and ESP equipment from the shop to the field site location and rig up.
  • Band cable to the tubing as the cable and cap line is run into the hole, splice or pack off cable and cap line and handle pulls of cable to the spool.
  • Responsible for unloading cable and ESP equipment at the shop and reloading for next trip.
  • Prepare paperwork to include DOT requirements, IFTA reports, billable and non-billable hours and mileage.
  • Job tasks, correctly performed, impact indirectly on cost containment, efficiency, profitability or operations.
  • Maintain mechanical performance of truck and trailer used in ESP equipment transportation to and from the field.
  • Train and mentor lower-level technicians at the well site.
  • Trains and coach's new hires in basic principles.
  • Promotes safety awareness and environmental consciousness and complies with all applicable safety and environmental procedures and regulations.
  • Ensures compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) regulations and guidelines.
  • Promotes and takes an active part in quality improvement processes.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. 
  • 3 to 4 years of experience required. 
  • Given the nature of oil field service work, all employees must be able to execute written and verbal instructions and effectively exchange information with peers and superiors that will increase the likelihood of job success.
  • Every employee must be able to work as an effective team member.
  • The ability to perform basic mathematical calculations involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division is required.
  • Basic reading comprehension and writing skills are required.
  • Class 1 with air endorsement is preferred and able to provide copy of drivers abstract.
