Job Description

We are looking for experienced Sperry engineers to join us as Directional Drillers. You will be a part of a dynamic and flexible work group collaborating closely with the customer either at the rig site or in onshore centers.

This position is critical to achieving our strategic goal of becoming the #1 service provider in autonomous drilling.

Job description:

You will be responsible to provide the on-job supervision of the Directional Drilling (DD) process:

  • Active participation in all internal & external safety systems.
  • Tool preparations, data acquisition, leading delivery of the drilling services to the customer.
  • Ensuring that data is available to all stakeholders in an accurate and timely fashion.
  • Assist in providing the customer with data and troubleshooting technical issues in a professional manner.
  • Assessing all tools and equipment before, during, and after each job.
  • Understand the principles of Bottom Hole Assembly (BHA) selection and aspects of DD performance.
  • Assist in accurately completing all required forms, databases, and reports.
  • Understands the customer requirements regarding directional survey procedures and anticollision.
  • Collaborate with the onshore center to ensure BHA compatibility, planned operating parameters are within specification, and correct tool face references are applied.
  • Adherence to Sperry Drilling HMS policies and Critical Focus areas.

Qualifications

  • Min. 2 years’ experience as Sperry Engineer (MWD/DD)
  • Preferably Master (MSc) or bachelor’s degree (BSc) in Petroleum Engineering, Science, Technology, Engineering.
  • Offshore safety and health certificate
  • Fluency in English and preferably a Scandinavian language

Personal qualities

Candidates that are collaborative, analytical, and can demonstrate excellent communication skills are sought. All successful candidates need to be prepared to work with practical mechanical and electrical tasks in the field. 

In line with future development in the industry around remote delivery models, candidates based in Stavanger area or with commitment to relocate are preferred. All candidates should also expect onshore assignments.
