Material Science - Non-Metallics, Principal/Advisor

Job Duties

  • Under broad direction, leads the selection and development of composites, elastomers, plastics, lubricants, and other non-metallic material systems across multiple complex projects, applying advanced materials engineering principles.
  • Drives end-to-end materials development, including formulation, processing, qualification, and field deployment.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert in non-metallic materials and processes for molded, formed, and formulated products.
  • Leads investigation and deployment of alternative materials and processes to improve performance, reliability, and cost.
  • Integrates data-driven and AI-enabled approaches into materials design, optimization, and scale-up workflows.
  • Provides technical leadership on strategic material sourcing and supplier engagement.
  • Advises on resolution of complex field and manufacturing issues, with direct impact on product performance and service quality.
  • Embeds reliability, HSE, quality, and project management rigor across all activities.
  • Contributes directly to value creation through technology differentiation and performance improvement.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline  and  7 years of relevant experience.
  • Completion of a Masters or PHD degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science or similar discipline is preferred.
  • Certification as a licensed Professional is preferred.
  • Demonstrated depth in non-metallic materials systems (polymers, elastomers, composites) and their processing.
  • Experience applying data science and/or AI/ML methods to accelerate materials development or optimize performance is highly desirable.
  • Track record of leading complex technical programs and influencing cross-functional stakeholders.
