Senior Firmware Engineer

Job Duties and Qualifications

  • Responsible for designing, testing, and documenting the firmware for multiple subsystems targeting a Halliburton wireline tool under development;
  • He/She will collaborate with Halliburton development teams based in the US and Singapore.
  • He/She will work close to the Electrical Engineering team, Systems Engineer, and the Project Manager at the Halliburton Technology Center in Brazil (HBTC).

Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Control Engineering, Computer Science, or similar areas with sufficient experience is acceptable.
  • A Master’s or Ph.D. degree in one of the areas above is desired.

Experience:

  • At least 5 years of experience in firmware development on multiple platforms;
  • Experience with digital electronics development/testing applied to embedded systems in harsh environments (oil & gas, aerospace or defense applications);
  • Demonstrated ability to look-ahead at firmware validation requirements, and develop/execute test plans and test setups, utilizing both firmware and hardware debugging tools.
  • Knowledge in programming microcontrollers for signal measurement, signal processing, and feedback control;
  • Knowledge in hardware description languages for FPGAs (VHDL, Verilog, etc.);
  • Experience with firmware development for digital communication (MIL-STD-1553, RS-485, CAN, SPI, I²C, etc.);
  • Experience in signal integrity analysis using lab test equipment and simulation, and performing logic/timing analysis.
  • Experience with commonly used computational languages (C, C++, Python, etc.)
  • Timely document technical reports.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills, and a strong sense of ownership.
  • Ability to innovate and think outside the box, self-starter, self-motivated.
  • Strong teamwork, adaptability, critical observation, communication, and writing skills are required.
  • Fluent in Portuguese & English.
