US Pasadena: Chemical Plant Operator I

Job Duties

Under direct supervision of a qualified trainer or supervisor, the individual is trained to operate the basic equipment to transfer chemicals and equipment required to produce and package product that is created by mixing two or more raw materials. The basic equipment includes but is not limited to: chemical hoses, diaphragm pumps, centrifugal or positive displacement pumps, agitators, manual valves. The operators at this level will be required to understand the use of utilities including but not limited to: compressed air, steam, cooling water and N2. The operator will be trained in understanding how the work process works related to reviewing batch orders, checking the raw materials, charging the raw materials, overseeing the mixing operation, finishing the batch, packing out the product and closing the order. The operator will be required to follow all site safety rules and trained in the use of specific PPE. The operator will also be trained in how to recognize hazards, review SDS and emergency response. The operator will be required to understand the safe permitting, equipment isolation from hazardous energy and the lock out/tag out. Strong mechanical aptitude. Ability to work as a member of a team. Willingness to comply with safety and quality regulations, including wearing protective gear when necessary. Ability to lift 50 lbs or more. Requires high school diploma. 2 years vocational training is preferred. Entry-level job.
