About the role
This is a full-time position for a Lead Frontend Software Engineer to take technical ownership of the frontend architecture of our engineering application. The ideal candidate has experience leading the development of high-performance, data-heavy software used for analytics, simulation, scientific or engineering workflows.
You will define the frontend architecture, establish engineering standards, and lead the continued evolution of a complex React and TypeScript application. The application is a complex engineering workspace, combining analytical workflows, large datasets, persistent user state, and interactive 2D/3D visualization.
Data visualization is an important part of the product, but the broader responsibility is to deliver a reliable, maintainable, and intuitive application for demanding technical users.
You will collaborate with domain experts, product managers, designers, backend engineers, and other developers to translate complex requirements into effective user experiences. The role combines hands-on software development with technical leadership, architectural decision-making, and long-term ownership of frontend quality and performance.
Qualifications
- Strong React and TypeScript skills
- Previous experience leading the frontend architecture of a complex production application
- Must have built a complex frontend for analytics, simulation, scientific or other data-intensive platform
- Strong understanding of frontend architecture and scalable application design
- Experience using state management tools such as Zustand, TanStack Query, Redux or equivalent
- Proven ability to optimize browser performance for large datasets, including asynchronous loading, render optimization, memory management and responsive interaction handling
- Comfortable contributing to API design, integrating asynchronous backend services and occasionally working beyond the frontend
- Strong frontend testing, debugging, observability and production-troubleshooting practices
- Ability to make pragmatic architectural decisions, explain trade-offs and balance long-term maintainability with delivery needs
- Experience with technical charting or visualization technologies such as D3.js, Plotly, Three.js, WebGL or Canvas is a big advantage
- Familiarity with scientific computing, CAD, GIS or other engineering disciplines is an advantage
