Well Engineer, Sr

Job Duties

  • Lead the design and implementation of technically complex well engineering solutions, including well proposals, Basis of Design (BoD), and Well Operation Programs.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to less experienced Well Engineers and support their professional development.
  • Ensure the technical integrity of well planning, engineering design, and operational execution.
  • Drive continuous improvement by capturing lessons learned, preparing timely End-of-Well reports, and incorporating feedback into future operations.
  • Develop, review, and obtain approval for Authorization for Expenditure (AFE) documents while maintaining effective cost control throughout operations.
  • Ensure comprehensive risk assessments are conducted to support safe, environmentally responsible, and compliant well operations.
  • Forecast and plan medium- and long-term operational requirements, including personnel, equipment, and resource needs.
  • Coordinate daily operational meetings, monitor ongoing activities, anticipate changes, and adjust plans to ensure operational efficiency and project success.
  • Track and evaluate operational performance against established goals, objectives, and performance targets.
  • Initiate and oversee engineering studies to identify root causes and resolve recurring operational challenges.
  • Prepare detailed equipment requirements and identify long lead-time items to support effective project planning and execution.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize well performance, operational efficiency, and overall project delivery.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, industry standards, regulatory requirements, and well engineering best practices.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving skills in a dynamic operational environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline, preferably Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in well services, well engineering, or drilling/completions operations.
  • Well Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary operational environments preferred.
  • Valid Well Control Certification required.
  • Strong technical, operational, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
