Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly experienced Production Technologist to lead and support well engineering and production technology studies for both High Pressure, High Temperature (HPHT) field development and Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in well operations, reservoir management, and production optimization, as well as the ability to oversee and implement cutting-edge technologies and strategies for well performance, monitoring, and enhanced recovery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Well Engineering and Production Technology Studies:
- Supervise and perform well engineering and production technology studies to support HPHT field development and CCS projects.
- Lead the development of well-related solutions, including perforation programs, well treatments, reservoir management plans, and monitoring programs.
- Make key decisions related to drilling, well operations, and well intervention activities.
- Data Acquisition and Well Performance Monitoring:
- Identify data acquisition requirements to monitor well and reservoir performance.
- Analyze well and reservoir issues, propose corrective actions, and coordinate with relevant teams to execute well intervention or workover activities.
- Oversee the planning and execution of well testing programs, including data interpretation, to assess well performance and reservoir characteristics.
- Well Performance Evaluation:
- Supervise and evaluate both short- and long-term well performance, comparing actual performance with predictions to assess performance trends and identify optimization opportunities.
- Conduct or oversee well simulation studies, integrating actual pressure and production data to enhance well performance predictions, reserves estimates, and development planning.
- Field Development Planning:
- Support the formulation of field development plans, including identifying key well management strategies and potential work programs.
- Provide recommendations for well targeting, well development, and production strategies based on comprehensive analysis of well data and performance.
- CCS Monitoring and Evaluation:
- Develop and implement a Monitoring, Measurement, and Verification (MMV) Plan for CCS projects, ensuring effective monitoring of CO₂ containment and storage.
- Evaluate and recommend enhanced recovery technologies for potential pilot and full-field implementation, including assessing technologies for CO₂ storage and containment.
- Well Completion and Remediation:
- Supervise well completion design to optimize production and propose remediation plans for idle wells or wells with suboptimal performance.
- Ensure all well completions are designed to maximize recovery while minimizing operational risks and costs.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum 15 years of experience as a Production Technologist in the oil and gas industry, with a focus on well operations, HPHT development, and/or CCS projects.
- At least 10 years of experience in petroleum development and CCS projects, within the last 15 years.
- At least 5 years of experience in CCS projects, within the last 10 years.
- Minimum 5 years of specific experience working in Malaysian basins, with a strong understanding of regional geology
- Strong technical expertise in well completion, perforation, flow assurance, and well operations.
- Experience with modeling and flow assurance related to containment and storage assessment for CCS projects.
- Proven ability to analyze well performance and design effective production optimization strategies.
- Demonstrated experience in implementing advanced recovery technologies for HPHT and CCS applications.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong communication skills, with experience in presenting technical findings and recommendations to senior management and stakeholders.
