Job Duties

Landmark, a Halliburton company, builds the software and data platforms that help the global energy industry make better decisions. Our products span subsurface interpretation, well construction planning, reservoir simulation, production optimization, and digital operations. These are tools used daily by engineers and scientists at the world’s largest energy companies and run as cloud-native SaaS platforms and as enterprise on-premises solutions.



About the Role 

This role spans the full early-career range. We are hiring new Geoscience graduates as well as engineers with up to five years of professional experience. Your experience will be reflected in your level, scope, and compensation at offer. You join a global team of Computational Science and Engineering for Energy (CSEE) and start contributing immediately. You build and test advanced research algorithms with your team that oil and gas operators use every day for real decisions. You will also actively engage on proof of concept (POC) with live dataset from  operators, and learn the trajectory from research to POC to productization. You receive regular guidance from experienced Geoscientists and participate in peer reviews from the start. Over time, you grow your technical skills and your understanding of the domain as well as AI/ML workflows, and you build the habits that make an Geoscientist effective over the long term. We hire for potential and train for success. 

Positions are available across a range of domains such as: 

  • Geoscience — geology
  • Geophysics
  • Petrophysics
  • AI-assisted analytics
  • Search, and generative AI 

Technologies used will include: 

  • Languages such as Python coding skills 
  • Decision Space Geoscience, Decision Space Petrophysics 
  • Other Landmark software

What You Will Do 


Build and test features for CSEE products which will later be in active use by energy companies worldwide.  Contribute to proof-of-concept on live client's data, learning how applications behave under real conditions.  Participate in weekly scheduled peer reviews.  Contribute to technical documentation for the features you work on. Write technical articles jointly with team, Present at conferences
Work within a distributed team across time zones, communicating clearly and consistently about your progress and blockers.  Research and evaluate technical publications that can improve the technology you work on.  Grow your understanding of the domain and AI/ML through the work itself 

Qualifications

Masters in Geophysics/ Geoscience / Petrophysics, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience 

Working knowledge of at least one modern programming language. Coding  skills with AI/ML knowledge.


Preferred 



Experience contributing to a shared research project with other scientists.  Interest in technically demanding application domains such as innovation in subsurface integrating AI/ML.  Energy industry experience is not required but is a strong plus including any internship experience. We welcome candidates from all backgrounds and encourage you to apply even if your experience does not match every item in the preferred list.

The scientist/engineer who succeeds in this role is technically curious and takes their craft seriously. Whether you are writing your first code or already have a few years behind you, you pick up new tools and techniques quickly, ask good questions when you are unsure, and follow through on the tasks you own. You treat peer reviews as a place to both learn and contribute, and you communicate clearly with teammates across time zones. 

Minimum Qualifications: Minimum qualifications may be acquired through technical schools or equivalent related experience. Candidates having qualifications that exceed the minimum job requirements will receive consideration for higher level roles given (1) their experience, (2) additional job requirements, and/or (3) business needs.
