About the Role
The Senior Software Engineer, Developer Experience & AI will help establish the tools, standards, and workflows that enable Landmark engineers to build, test, and deliver software efficiently and securely. As a founding contributor to a newly established Developer Experience function, this role will define practical inner-loop standards and implement them across selected repositories.
The engineer will also improve repository readiness for AI-assisted development by creating machine-readable conventions, automated health checks, and reference implementations that can be adopted by product teams. The role works across software engineering, DevOps, platform engineering, security, and product teams to deliver measurable improvements without duplicating ownership of CI/CD, deployment, or observability platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and prioritize improvements to developer productivity, software quality, and engineering processes for projects of moderate scope and complexity.
- Define practical standards for healthy software repositories, including local build, testing, linting, documentation, environment setup, and machine-readable conventions.
- Remediate selected repositories through hands-on software development and create reference implementations that product teams can reuse.
- Develop and implement conventions that enable engineers and approved AI-assisted development tools to operate reliably within Landmark repositories.
- Integrate developer tooling with source control, issue tracking, collaboration, and feature-management platforms, including Model Context Protocol integrations where appropriate.
- Partner with DevOps and Platform Engineering to align local developer workflows with CI/CD, deployment, security, and observability practices.
- Design automated regression-testing strategies and improve build and test reliability across supported repositories.
- Evaluate open-source technologies for technical fit, maintainability, security, and appropriate use within Landmark software.
- Document technical standards, decisions, adoption guidance, and measurable outcomes for a broad engineering audience.
Qualifications
Required
- Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or a similar discipline.
- At least four years of related software development experience.
- Experience designing, coding, testing, troubleshooting, and documenting software applications.
- Experience with software build systems, automated testing, and local development environments.
- Working knowledge of secure coding, common software vulnerabilities, security-issue triage, and remediation.
- Ability to organize and deliver technical assignments of moderate scope and complexity under general supervision.
Preferred
- Experience improving developer workflows, engineering productivity, or internal developer tooling across multiple repositories.
- Practical exposure to AI-assisted software development tools or agent-enabled engineering workflows.
- Experience integrating development tooling with source control, issue tracking, collaboration, CI/CD, or feature-management platforms.
- Experience building or supporting engineering, scientific, industrial, or energy software.
- Experience evaluating or contributing to open-source developer tooling, build systems, or platform-engineering projects.
