Technician Mechanical (Principal) Sperry Drilling

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Plan and conduct tests on materials, components, subassemblies, and tools under general supervision, with room for independent decision-making.
  • Develop and implement innovative test procedures and techniques to support product development.
  • Accurately document test protocols, data, observations, and results for analysis and reporting.
  • Assemble prototype tools and components for testing, demonstrating proficiency in relevant tools and techniques.
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation of assembly procedures and methods.
  • Source parts for prototypes, collaborate with manufacturing teams, and support the transition of new designs into production.
  • Apply standard materials and components effectively; explore and evaluate alternative materials for improved performance.
  • Integrate Reliability, HSE (Health, Safety & Environment), and Quality analysis into all work processes.
  • Provide technical support for field issues, contributing to product and service improvements.
  • Occasionally travel to offsite locations to assemble, test, repair, and operate equipment.
  • Mentor and guide less experienced technicians, fostering skill development and knowledge sharing.
  • Contribute to cost containment, operational efficiency, and overall profitability through technical expertise.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in a related scientific or technical field.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in a technician role, or 8 years in a related technician, manufacturing, or field operations capacity.
  • Strong hands-on experience with testing, assembly, and troubleshooting of mechanical/electrical components.
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for field support and testing.
