Senior Tax Manager - State Income Tax

The Senior Tax Manager – State Income Tax is responsible for managing U.S. state and local income/franchise tax compliance, ASC 740 reporting, audits, and providing technical guidance to internal stakeholders. This role ensures compliance with state tax requirements and also supports planning initiatives.

Job Duties

  • Manage and review outsourcedstate & local income/franchise tax return preparation and related compliance activities.
  • Heavily support outsourced state tax provision and apportionment calculations, journal entries, reconciliations, and forecasting under ASC 740.
  • Directly facilitate extensions, estimated payments, journal entries, reconciliations and forecasting related to compliance and provision activities
  • Lead state and local tax audits and coordinate responses to tax authorities.
  • Conduct technical research and support planning initiatives, incentives, and risk mitigation.
  • Monitor legislative changes and assess impacts on the company.
  • Support SOX compliance and process improvements related to state tax.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and development to SALT team members.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Tax, or related field.
  • 10+ years of state and local income/franchise tax experience.
  • Strong technical knowledge of ASC 740 and multistate tax concepts.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills.

Preferred

  • CPA, MBA, or Master’s in Taxation.
  • Experience with OneSource, CCH, Checkpoint, and SAP.

Competencies

  • Ability to work independently under broad direction.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills.
  • Proven ability to manage complex multi-jurisdictional responsibilities.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
