Senior Tax Manager, Planning & Research (Senior Manager - Director)

Job Duties and Qualifications

  • With general autonomy, manages one or more tax functional and/or geographical areas.
  • Must have mastery of prevailing statutory authority and it’s applicability to financial (general ledger) data across broad functional and geographical areas.
  • Actively manage personnel, activities and deadlines in support of the financial reporting process, supporting financial pronouncements, statutory reporting and compliance, and tax technical research, as applicable.
  • Acts as a company advocate and advisor in multiple substantive areas of tax law, both by subject matter and geography.
  • Will liaise with finance and accounting, treasury, legal, and other internal customers to insure appropriate management of tax reporting and risk management for the company.
  • Will provide tax leadership and support for acquisitions, dispositions, joint ventures, restructurings and other strategic transactions, including working with finance leadership to ensure appropriate post-acquisition integration.
  • Leads audit defense of tax positions taken, in addition to proposing and implementing planning opportunities to optimize the company’s effective tax rate and/or cash tax position.
  • Ensures compliance with internal controls in their respective area.
  • Routinely interacts with and advises senior executives throughout the Company on tax matters and works closely with external advisors in support of legal and accounting determinations made.
  • Manages functions and responsibilities of personnel and approves technical memoranda in support of tax positions taken in the financial statements and statutory tax filings.
  • Responsible for the career development and coaching of personnel.
