About the Role
The Senior Mechanical Technician supports the development, testing, and assembly of downhole tools and equipment used in Wireline & Perforating operations.
This role combines hands-on technical expertise with troubleshooting and problem-solving to ensure tools are built, tested, and deployed to meet performance, safety, and reliability standards. The position works closely with engineering, manufacturing, and field teams to support both new product development and ongoing tool performance improvements.
Key Responsibilities
• Assemble, test, and troubleshoot downhole tools, components, and subassemblies.
• Conduct laboratory and shop testing on materials, components, and prototype tools, ensuring adherence to established procedures.
• Debug and resolve complex test setup and equipment issues.
• Document test procedures, data, observations, and results in a clear and accurate manner.
• Support prototype builds, including sourcing parts and coordinating with manufacturing teams.
• Assist in transitioning new tool designs from development into production.
• Apply working knowledge of mechanical systems, materials, and assembly techniques.
• Incorporate Reliability, HSE, and Quality standards into all work processes.
• Support troubleshooting and resolution of field-related tool performance issues.
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and operations teams to improve product performance.
• Travel occasionally to offsite locations to support tool assembly, testing, repair, or field operations.
Qualifications
Required
• Associate’s degree in Mechanical Technology, Engineering Technology, or related field OR equivalent hands-on experience.
• 3+ years of experience in a technical, mechanical, manufacturing, or field operations role OR 5+ years of relevant experience without a degree.
• Experience working with mechanical tools, assemblies, and test equipment.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to read and follow technical procedures and documentation.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.
Preferred
• Experience with wireline, perforating, or downhole oilfield tools.
• Familiarity with prototype testing and product development environments.
• Experience supporting field operations or tool deployment.
• Ability to read technical drawings and mechanical schematics.
