About the Role
The Senior Drilling Engineering Advisor serves as a recognized technical authority within Sperry Drilling Services, leading advanced drilling engineering initiatives focused on Continuous/Controlled Trajectory Drilling (CTD) technology development and deployment.
Operating with broad autonomy, this role drives high-impact engineering programs, provides strategic guidance, and ensures safe, reliable, and commercially aligned execution of CTD initiatives. The Advisor combines deep technical expertise with strong customer-facing leadership to support technology adoption, operational excellence, and sustained business growth.
This position requires demonstrated in-country operational CTD experience and the ability to influence technical and commercial outcomes through direct customer engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert-level drilling engineering guidance supporting CTD technology deployment and optimization.
- Lead complex drilling engineering initiatives, ensuring alignment with best practices, quality standards, and commercial objectives.
- Serve as a technical authority in well design, trajectory planning, drilling optimization, and operational risk mitigation.
- Apply in-country operational experience to address regional challenges and customer-specific requirements.
- Engage directly with customers to present technical solutions, support proposal development, and drive technology adoption.
- Define, document, and implement best practices across drilling engineering workflows and consulting engagements.
- Lead and mentor 2–10 engineers or technical professionals, fostering capability development and knowledge transfer.
- Participate in budgeting, financial oversight, and strategic planning for CTD-related programs.
- Collaborate with regional and global teams to ensure consistent technical execution aligned with PSL strategy.
- Leverage industry networks and customer relationships to identify growth opportunities and expand CTD footprint.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Science, Technology, or Mathematics (STEM discipline required).
- Minimum 7+ years of progressive drilling engineering experience.
- Minimum 5+ years of in-country CTD operational experience.
- Demonstrated experience in direct customer engagement, technical presentations, and advisory-level support.
- Proven expertise in well design, drilling optimization, performance analysis, and technology deployment.
- Experience leading multi-disciplinary technical projects and mentoring engineers.
- Strong commercial awareness with the ability to align technical solutions to business objectives.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred
- Experience supporting technology scale-up or new market deployment initiatives.
- Demonstrated success influencing technology adoption in customer organizations.
- Experience working within international operating environments.
