About the Role

As a Senior R&D Electrical Engineer, you will serve as a technical lead for the design, development, and validation of Electrical systems for Sonic and Ultrasonic downhole tools. You will guide engineering plans, assess risk, ensure compliance with HSE requirements, and contribute to the advancement of Sperry’s next‑generation technology portfolio. This role plays a critical part in delivering innovative, reliable, and commercially impactful solutions for our global customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a technical lead by developing engineering plans and approving Electrical design documentation.
  • Evaluate project risks and advise project leaders on mitigation strategies.
  • Apply engineering tools, analysis methods, and test specifications to ensure design robustness and reliability.
  • Integrate Health, Safety & Environment requirements into all stages of the design process.
  • Use modeling and software tools to perform routine analysis of performance and reliability.
  • Lead Electrical design and validation activities for Sonic and Ultrasonic tool technologies.
  • Collaborate proactively with cross‑functional teams, customers, vendors, and Halliburton’s technical community.
  • Contribute innovative concepts that support Halliburton’s Intellectual Property portfolio.
  • Participate in professional societies and maintain expertise in Electrical Engineering and related disciplines.
  • Support continuous improvement and technical excellence within Sperry Drilling’s R&D organization.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 4 years of related Electrical Engineering experience.
  • Experience in Electrical design, analysis, and validation activities.
  • Ability to assess design risks and apply appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Proficiency using engineering tools and software for performance and reliability analysis.
  • Experience evaluating or incorporating HSE requirements within engineering design.

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience with Sonic and/or Ultrasonic tool technologies.
  • Prior experience collaborating with cross‑disciplinary engineering teams.

Candidates who possess qualifications exceeding the minimum job requirements may be considered for higher-level positions based on experience, additional qualifications, and current business needs. Depending on education, experience, and skill level, candidates may be eligible for roles ranging from R&D Electrical Engineer, Senior to Principal or Advisor.
