Overview
Under general supervision, provides technical assistance and analysis during planning and execution of Product Service Line (PSL) operations for customers, maintaining the highest levels of professionalism, safety and service quality. Works on value add projects through collaboration with both internal and external customers based on technical knowledge and developments to deliver solutions to meet their requirements and Halliburton's commercial expectations, considering both the price of the solution to the customer as well as the total cost to Halliburton to deliver it. Applies engineering, mechanical and geological principles to articulate more complex data interpretations to customers from proprietary software and collaborates with clients through the entire well cycle from drilling to completion scenarios independently. Actively completes training and competency assignments to pursue growth and development within the PSL career path and Halliburton organization. Fosters teamwork among all personnel involved in the performance of work activities, and supports the development of less experienced operators and/or technical personnel. Shares learning and advertises successes by writing, publishing and presenting case histories and industry papers (for example, Society of Petroleum Engineers-SPE).

Responsibilities
- Actively participates (often leading) in the characterization, qualification, modeling, analysis, design, testing, troubleshooting, documentation, and design reviews for new and existing mechanical designs
- Serves as a technical expert by coaching and developing other employees
- Creates and maintains best practices that incorporate Reliability, Health, Safety, and Environment concepts to guide others in analysis and design
- Communicates and collaborates with different groups including product management, regional tech advisors, and other technology teams, etc
- Publishing in patent applications, technical journals, and conferences
- Represents Halliburton in external professional societies and conferences such as API and ISO
Required Education and Skills
- Skills acquired through the completion of an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline and 10+ years of related experience
- Completion of a master's or doctoral degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred
- Depending on education, experience, and skill level, a variety of job opportunities might be available from the Advisor to Chief Mechanical Engineering
- Experience and strong interest in solving practical problems, from invention to implementation in the field
- Experience with SolidWorks (or similar 3D modeling) and product lifecycle management software
- Experience with engineering modeling tools, such as FEA and CFD, as well as applying physics-based principles, such as statics and dynamics
- Knowledge of materials and manufacturing techniques used to make downhole tool components
- An excellent publication and patent record consistent with experience
- Demonstrated teamwork, strong communication skills, and collaboration in complex engineering projects
Preferred Experiences
- Designing and developing downhole tools. Particularly casing attachments that facilitate cementing operations and/or completion tools
- Excellent understanding of API regulatory standards for API 10F, 11D1 and API 19OH in extreme high-pressure and high-temperature (HP/HT) applications
- Testing downhole tools at extreme temperatures and pressures to verify product performance ratings
- Setting up and running explaining FEA/CFD simulations with the ability to interpret and explain the results
- Applying elastomers to create down seals within a tool or as a packer in various downhole environments
- Using composite materials for downhole tool designs
