Logistics Supervisor

Job Duties

Under broad direction, the Logistics Supervisor is responsible for coordinating the movement of goods via air, ocean, land, and hazardous transport in compliance with local and international laws. This role manages the full logistics process cycle, from planning and documentation to provider negotiations and performance analysis.

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable local and international transportation regulations
  • Oversee logistics planning and preparation, including coordination of the pre-inspection process
  • Execute proper documentation for all domestic and international movements
  • Monitor transportation lane performance and service levels; identify and implement improvements as needed
  • Collect and analyze logistics data for use in Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs)
  • Negotiate with logistics service providers to support long-term goals and competitive advantage
  • Develop, analyze, and respond to Requests for Proposals (RFPs)
  • Apply knowledge of contracts and Incoterms in day-to-day decision-making
  • Design and implement logistics strategies aligned with area and regional business initiatives
  • Proactively seek alternative solutions to improve logistics services and drive cost efficiencies
  • Perform full supervisory duties including hiring, interviewing, training, and managing employee performance
  • Set schedules, assign work, resolve employee concerns, and make hiring and termination recommendations

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; preferred majors include Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, or Information Technology
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in logistics, with expertise in all transport modes (ocean, air, land), including hazardous cargo
  • Knowledge of hazardous materials regulations is preferred
  • Familiarity with IATA, IMDG, and CFR49 may be required depending on scope of work
  • Strong analytical, communication, and negotiation skills
  • Proven experience leading teams and managing end-to-end logistics operations
