Job Duties and Qualifications

  • Under broad direction, performs the role of a technical advisor to the operator who can be used in complicated and difficult drilling situations to provide recommendations to optimize the drilling operation based upon the analysis and interpretation of all relevant information sources.
  • Provides technical services to Surface Data Logging, Measurement While Drilling, Directional Drilling and Operator personnel to ensure that the objectives of Optimization are carried out in a professional manner.
  • Ensures optimization data is properly and accurately collected and documented, including possible problems, and communicated as necessary internally and to the customer.
  • Provides analysis for the Optimization disciplines of other functions, e.g. Geosteering, Drillstring Integrity, Hydraulics Management and Wellbore Integrity.
  • Interprets data to assist in the planning and solution of complicated engineering problems, and to make professional and safe drilling recommendations to the customer during the course of the well.
  • Develops new and innovative analysis methods within the Optimization disciplines.
  • Presents complete, detailed, accurate and professional reports to the customer and delivers presentations on project results and on the Optimization services disciplines utilized.
  • Assembles Optimization data into Optimization logs following established and/or customer guidelines.
  • Maintains an updated standard well summary file during the well and is responsible for completion of the end-of-well report.
  • Provides recommendations pertinent to the safe and cost-effective drilling of future wells included on the end-of-well report.
  • Documents and properly briefs relief personnel of all activities related to the execution of the job function while relief was absent.
  • Performs in such a way as to obtain repeat business.

Requirements

  • Completion of an undergraduate degree in Engineering, Science, Geoscience or other technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 10 years relevant industry experience to include 5 years well site experience delivering Optimization services required.
  • Thorough knowledge of onshore and offshore drilling practices and the ability to demonstrate technical aptitude to standards required.
  • Must possess good communication, supervisory, interpersonal leadership, good verbal communication, presentation, technical writing, arithmetic, data entry, and recording skills.
  • Proven competency in relevant computer software.
  • Proven competency and experience of modeling and well site monitoring in specializations such as Geosteering, including competencies in petrophysical analysis, drillstring and Bottom Hole Assembly (BHA) design and well planning, drillstring vibration analysis, hydraulics management, and formation pore and fracture pressure prediction.
  • Must possess relevant offshore certificates as required.
