Corporate Compliance Counsel

Overview:

Under broad discretion, this senior compliance counsel role will report to either the Western Hemisphere Compliance Manager or the Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer. As a collaborative leader among the Global Ethics & Compliance team, the successful candidate will have substantial expertise in compliance processes and investigations and will be responsible for advising the company concerning a variety of complex legal issues related to compliance and investigations.

Responsibilities include:

  • Undertaking a wide range of responsibilities, primarily involving the Company’s Code of Business Conduct (COBC) and compliance policies
  • Conducting internal investigations, including formulating investigation strategies, analyzing evidence, and conducting investigatory interviews
  • Participating in compliance reviews (audits) and risk assessments
  • Evaluating and recommending process enhancements to drive compliance
  • Assisting with special projects, benchmarking research, legal initiatives, and other administrative duties

Requirements:

  • Licensed to practice law in the US, a J.D. or L.L.M. is required
  • 5+ years legal experience in compliance, either as outside counsel or in-house counsel
  • A Bachelors degree is required, while a Masters degree is preferred
  • Willing to travel internationally

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Spanish and/or Arabic language skills
  • Oilfield experience
  • Both in-house and outside counsel experience

Candidates having qualifications that exceed the minimum job requirements will receive consideration for higher-level roles given (1) their experience, (2) additional job requirements, and/or (3) business needs. Depending on education, experience, and skill level, a variety of job opportunities might be available up to an Assistant General Counsel
