Senior Technical Instructor - Wireline and Perforating

Wireline & Perforating offers formation evaluation, cased-hole logging, and precision perforating services that support production and reservoir management. Our technologies deliver accurate subsurface data and efficient well access to help customers make confident decisions throughout the well lifecycle. 

About the Role

The Senior Technical Instructor serves as a subject matter expert responsible for delivering advanced technical training programs supporting Wireline & Perforating operations, with a strong focus on Formation Evaluation (Open Hole) services.

Based at the Fort Worth, Texas Training Center, this role ensures operational readiness, technical competency, and safety compliance across field personnel by combining hands-on operational expertise with structured training delivery.

The position plays a critical role in developing workforce capability through both in-person and virtual training, translating complex field operations into effective learning experiences aligned with PSL performance standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver advanced technical training programs for Formation Evaluation (Open Hole) services utilizing Wireline & Perforating tools and downhole equipment.
  • Develop and deliver both in-person and virtual training sessions aligned with scheduled programs and defined learning objectives.
  • Create and maintain training content, including video-based and web-based (online) modules to support Field Professional and Service Operator development.
  • Design and facilitate hands-on training exercises, including rig-up, rig-down, cable re-heading, winch operations, and tool vertical make-up.
  • Support training related to equipment handling, maintenance, and calibration practices.
  • Partner with Instructional Design and SMEs to continuously improve curriculum and training effectiveness.
  • Evaluate training outcomes using performance metrics and competency assessments; identify gaps and implement improvements.
  • Adapt training delivery to meet diverse learning styles and operational requirements.
  • Provide coaching and mentorship to junior instructors and field personnel.
  • Ensure training aligns with safety, operational, and competency standards across the PSL.
  • Travel globally as required to support training delivery at field locations and regional training centers.

Qualifications

Required
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, Education, or related discipline.
• Minimum 8+ years of experience in Wireline, Perforating, or related PSL operations.
• Hands-on experience delivering Formation Evaluation (Open Hole) services using Wireline tools and downhole equipment.
• Demonstrated experience in technical training delivery and/or curriculum development.
• Strong understanding of field operations, including rig-up/rig-down, cable handling, winch operations, and tool assembly.
• Excellent communication, facilitation, and presentation skills.
• Ability to translate complex technical concepts into practical learning outcomes.

Preferred
• Experience developing digital learning content (e-learning, video modules, LMS-based training).
• Prior experience instructing in both virtual and in-person environments.
• Familiarity with competency frameworks and performance-based training models.
