About the Role
The Senior Software Developer – Industrial Automation plays a critical role in the design, development, and support of software systems that control and monitor PLC-based bulk plant equipment across global Cementing operations. This role supports both fixed and mobile bulk plant platforms, ensuring reliable, scalable, and secure automation solutions that directly impact operational efficiency, safety, and service delivery.
Working under general direction, this position contributes to the full software development lifecycle — from requirements definition through deployment and sustainment — while ensuring adherence to Halliburton’s Technical Software Development processes and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Define software requirements, functional specifications, and validation documentation for industrial automation and control applications.
- Design, develop, test, and maintain software supporting PLC-controlled bulk plants and related operational systems.
- Collaborate with electrical, controls, and operations teams to ensure integration between software platforms and physical equipment.
- Ensure compliance with established Technical Software Development lifecycle processes and continuously improve development practices.
- Lead or contribute to project plans, development schedules, and release milestones.
- Support troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for software-related field issues impacting bulk plant operations.
- Contribute to architectural discussions for enhancements impacting future system releases and scalability.
- Assist in identifying product enhancements and operational improvements aligned with PSL objectives.
- Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior developers (Principal and Advisor levels).
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related discipline required.
- Minimum 4+ years of software development experience (or 8+ years equivalent practical experience).
- Experience developing applications supporting industrial systems, automation environments, or PLC-based equipment preferred.
- Strong understanding of software lifecycle methodologies, version control, and structured testing practices.
- Experience interfacing software with hardware systems and control platforms is highly desirable.
- Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Candidates who exceed minimum qualifications may be considered for higher-level positions based on experience, capability, and business needs. Career progression includes Senior Software Developer, Principal Software Developer and Principal Software Developer.
