Job Duties

Under general supervision, create molds using variety of materials such as sand and wax to shape molten metal to produce castings and parts. Perform any combination of following tasks in foundry concerned with sand mixing, mold/ core making, melting metal, pouring metal into molds, removing castings from molds, dressing castings, moving foundry materials, and cleaning equipment and work areas. Moves sand, castings, flasks, or other materials in foundry by hand, using wheelbarrow or cart. Job tasks, correctly performed, have minimal impact upon the viability of the organization. Error is readily ascertainable by the supervisor and can be corrected. Skills are typically acquired through 2 - 3 years of experience in Manufacturing, which includes experience in shop environments. Must have basic knowledge of manufacturing and shop work environments.
