Technical Instructor (Senior - Principal) Boots & Coots Well Control

Responsibilities

  • Deliver highly technical, safety-critical, and specialized training programs to internal teams, clients, and partners, focused on Well Control, Emergency Response, Risk Management, Drilling Operations, and Well Integrity.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert for advanced well control, blowout prevention, Managed Pressure Drilling (MPD), Underbalanced Drilling (UBD), Horizontal Well operations, and complex drilling engineering practices.

  • Partner with Instructional Design in the curriculum lifecycle, from design/redesign to execution and evaluation, incorporating offshore and onshore field experience, drilling operations expertise, and Stress Check software applications.

  • Develop scenario-based training and skill demonstration exercises replicating high-pressure drilling and well intervention environments, enabling participants to apply technical knowledge under simulated real-world conditions.

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of course objectives vs. student performance, utilizing CPI/EJCS metrics, incident investigations, and Boots & Coots competency frameworks to identify skill gaps and improve training outcomes.

  • Support the development of less experienced instructors through mentorship, coaching, and assessment, ensuring continuity of technical excellence.

  • Deliver training globally across diverse cultural settings, adapting instruction methods to meet the needs of multilingual audiences.

Qualifications

  • Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, Education, or related discipline.

    • Minimum 8 years’ experience in drilling engineering, drilling operations, and product service line operations, including curriculum development or training.

    • Proven field experience across offshore and onshore operations, including exposure to complex drilling projects and emergency response scenarios.

    • Valid certifications:

      • IWCF Assessor

      • IWCF Drilling Instructor

      • IADC Drilling Instructor

      • IADC Well Intervention Instructor

    • Demonstrated expertise with Stress Check software, well design, and drilling engineering applications.

    • Strong working knowledge of MPD, UBD, horizontal wells, and well intervention methods.

    • Excellent communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences, from field personnel to senior leadership.

    • Bilingual or multilingual capability highly preferred (Spanish, English, Arabic, Portuguese).

    • Willingness and ability to travel extensively to global field locations and customer sites.
