Job Duties

Under general supervision, provides on-site supervision of the Measurement-While Drilling (MWD)/Logging-While Drilling (LWD) and Directional Drilling (DD) process, including tool preparations, data acquisition, log generation and quality control, and delivery of services to the customer. Understands principles of Bottom Hole assembly (BHA) selection and aspects of DD performance and ensures that BHA's are assembled as planned including correct make-up torque, doping, and handling. Ensures that all data presented to the customer is accurate, timely, and meets the highest possible service quality standard. Provides technical consultation and advice to customers using DD software, well path projections, well profile plots, survey calculations, and accurate directional survey data provided according to the clients surveying procedures. Properly tests all tools and equipment before, during, and after each job. Identifies and corrects operational problems to prevent or minimize service impact. Works with the RDC engineers to accurately complete all required forms, databases, and reports (i.e. service vouchers, lost/damaged equipment, radiation site survey, End of Job Customer Survey (EJCS) report, First Alert Database (FAD)/Correction, Prevention and Improvement (CPI). Interfaces with the Remote Drilling Coordinator and/or Directional Driller (RDC/DD) to ensure BHA compatibility, planned operating parameters are within specification, correct tool face references are applied, and toolface control is maintained on both tangents and build sections of the well. Assists RDC in the completion of a daily DD report, BHA performance report for each BHA run, completion of all service tickets and paperwork (well data spreadsheet, lesson learned/best practice). Maintains records of all DD equipment at well site including dimensional data and condition, and ensures that all equipment is laid out after use in accordance with company procedures and manifested for backload at the end of the job. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in petroleum, Electronic, Mechanical engineering or similar.​
  • 5 years of experience in the Oil & Gas Industry, specifically with M/LWD and DD operations.​
  • Understand principles of Bottom Hole assembly (BHA) selection and aspects of DD performance and ensure that BHA's are assembled as planned to include correct make-up torque, doping and handling​
  • Advanced English proficiency.​
