About the Role

Under direct supervision, the Technologist, Laboratory I performs laboratory testing and analysis in support of Baroid’s fluid development, quality control, and field operations. This entry-level professional plays a key role in maintaining laboratory accuracy, performing routine testing, and assisting with product evaluations that ensure the performance, reliability, and safety of Baroid’s products and systems. The role provides hands-on experience with oilfield fluid technologies, laboratory instrumentation, and data collection methods.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine and standardized laboratory tests on drilling and completion fluids to ensure product quality and compliance with PSL specifications.
  • Prepare, label, and maintain samples and reagents for chemical and physical analyses.
  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain testing instruments and laboratory equipment following established procedures.
  • Record, analyze, and report data accurately in accordance with quality control and HSE standards.
  • Assist in product development and performance evaluations under the direction of senior technologists or engineers.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying and reporting process or testing anomalies.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment in compliance with Halliburton’s health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate or Technical Degree in Chemistry, Engineering Technology, or related field preferred.
  • Preferred: Minimum one (1) year of laboratory or testing experience, ideally in chemical, fluid, or industrial environments.
  • Mechanically inclined with ability to operate and maintain laboratory instruments and testing systems.
  • Strong communication and customer interaction skills.
  • Working knowledge of laboratory safety procedures and basic data documentation.

Candidates who possess qualifications exceeding the minimum job requirements will be considered for higher-level positions based on their experience, demonstrated capabilities, and current business needs. Depending on education, experience, and performance alignment, candidates may be eligible for advancement opportunities within the laboratory technologist career path, including positions ranging from Technologist, Laboratory I  to Technologist, Laboratory II.
