Job Duties
Role Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Lead Manufacturing Operator to join our Machine Shop team. This role is pivotal in supporting our automated machining processes, ensuring tooling and equipment readiness, cell workflow planning and driving efficiency improvements across the automation production team. The successful candidate will be hands-on, proactive, and focused on ensuring smooth operations by anticipating needs and minimising machine downtime. Must have a safety led mindset that strives for the highest quality.
Please note this role does not involve operation of CNC machines.

Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee all automation cell tooling and equipment, ensuring the correct inventory and maintenance followed by readiness aligned with production schedules.
• Work closely with the automation team to drive efficiency gains through correct and accurate preparations of tool assemblies.
• Eliminate waste by ensuring workflow through the cell is coordinated and calibrated with both current customer needs and set-up batching.
• Tooling management:
o Maintain accurate stock levels of tooling and consumables.
o Build and prepare tooling kits specific to jobs prior to release.
o Proactively pre-order required tooling to avoid delays.
o Establish a push system for tooling delivery to the Automation team, replacing the current reactive pull system.
• Anticipate and address potential tooling or setup issues before they impact production.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives, focusing on reducing downtime and increasing machine utilisation.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and quality standards at all times.
• Role may involve other related duties that align with changing business conditions.

• Proven experience in a CNC / machine shop or automated manufacturing environment.
• Understanding of machine tools, with focus on capto system and Mazak machines.
• Read and understand engineering drawings with the ability to anticipate and prevent production issues.
• Organisational skills required to coordinate workflow on multiple machining centres.
• Ability to communicate effectively across teams and influence improvements.
• Reliability, punctuality, and commitment to safety and quality as standard.
• Competent in basic use of Microsoft IT application.
