Job Duties
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Under broad direction, incumbent is responsible for the development and administration of production planning schedules to control work flow and ensure the most efficient use of available resources in meeting finished product requirements and deadlines.
- Accountable for medium-term capacity planning and production activity control, the Production Controller reviews and reconciles daily capacity requirements against defined capacity and provides detailed planning and control of production orders as they progress to completion.
- The incumbent will coordinate with Manufacturing Engineering on the suggested task list to facilitate scheduling, and also works with the Production Group Leader to maintain work center definitions.
- Releases production orders for manufacturing to ensure they are completed on schedule, and applies Theory of Constraints to resolve bottlenecks, including performing inventory management functions to optimize material flow.
- Must have an understanding and knowledge of: FP, Ordering Promising, MRP, Master Data, Engineering Change Management, and Inventory Turns.
- May obtain feedback from PSL, Manufacturing personnel, or internal and external suppliers, and uses those inputs to determine appropriate inventory levels to meet the business' requirements.
- Develops and implements strategies to optimize inventory trends and performance.
- May be responsible for planning activities such as review of and recommendations for Material Requirements Planning (MRP) settings, forecasting, and management of inventory levels.
Qualifications
- Requires a secondary or high school diploma, or equivalent, and a minimum of four years of related experience in manufacturing planning, procurement, or customer service.
- Requires strong computer skills and analytical abilities to resolve problems.
